So, after skiing

Guess who played ball yesterday... this guy!

6 months after the diagnosis and back surgery, and with 2 rods and 6 (or so) pins in my back, I got back into the box last night.

And promptly hit a weak ground ball to short. Who for some reason - after getting the out at 2nd, didn't look how I was "running" and never tried for the (very easy) double play.

Hey... I'm on first base! OK, it's a FC in the book, but I'll take it. Pinch runner please.

Now, the 2nd AB... 😁

Was actually a fairly decent shot right down the 3rd base line. THAT was a clean single. (Pinch runner please!) No power behind it, but "hit 'em where they ain't" - right!

2 AB  1 1B  1.000 OB   .500 BA

Not terrible at all.

I'll repeat this part from the skiing post - before every surgery I ask:
"When can I play ball and when can I ski?"

I NEEDED to get back on the field... I know it's taking time, but at least (for now) I can hit... I'll get to the fielding hopefully soon.

But damn, did last night feel great (except we got our doors blown off and lost by like 18.)  It may be the only game I was more concerned with my play than the score. I normally don't care if I go 4-4 if we lose, but last night - well, I think I'll be just a wee bit selfish over it. I still feel pretty good over that game.

(OK, I am pissed we lost...)
